Google Drive is the most powerful software of the decade that moves the average hard drive user’s workspace to the cloud. But Google Drive has its problems. One of the most notable problems is that it cannot download or transfer the files you want to upload or transfer to the cloud.
Fortunately, we made some corrections when the Google Drive download started to disappoint you.

Before you can hack our patches, you must first check the G-suite’s dashboard.
Google Drive is very efficient in terms of uptime, and it is very rare for the service itself to fail. But before you take matters into your own hands, first check the dashboard for faults in Google Drive. If you find that Google Drive is not working, you’ll just have to wait for it to restart.
Problems downloading videos on Google Drive
A common problem among Google Drive users is that when they upload a video to Google Drive, they cannot play it with the message The video cannot be processed.
Although there is no solution for downloading videos to Google Drive without this message appearing when you try to play them, there are several workarounds.
- Update your browser
- Touch the Options icon (three dots) next to the video file, then touch Download and watch the video in your favorite video player application after downloading.
- If you have Google Backup and Sync on your PC, you can simply view the video in File Explorer (Windows) or the Finder (Mac) and open it there, not via a browser.
- Use a different browser. It is curious that Google Chrome is often unstable, even when working with websites and services created by Google, and users have reported that using the new version of Microsoft Edge (Chromium) solves the problem of raw video. You can also try Safari on your Mac, Firefox or another browser.
If none of the above items work, the video may be damaged and you may need to restart it.
Forced Shutdown of Google Drive (Android/iOS)
If you started the download and it crashed for a while, chances are that something went wrong and the download crashed (provided you are in a stable internet location).
You may need to restart the download. The best way to do this is to re-launch the Google Drive application.
To do this on Android, go to Settings -> Applications and notifications -> Show all applications. Find the drive in the list, click Force Stop and try again.
On iOS 13, double-click the Home button, drag and drop until you find Google Drive, close the preview window, and restart the download. If you have an iPhone without a home button, drag and hold the slider in the middle or bottom of the screen until you see the App button, then drag it right until you find Google Drive. Drag up the preview window to close it. On an iPad without a Home button, slide your finger up from the bottom of the screen to access the Home screen, then slide it up from the bottom right of the screen. Drag to the right until you find Google Drive, then drag the preview window up to close it.
Log out and rejoin your Google Account
Once you have downloaded the backup and synchronization application, there are several things you can try to do to correctly download the files again.
The first option is to log out of your Google Account and rejoin the application. Go to Backup and Sync by clicking on the cloud icon in the notification area at the bottom right of the screen.
Then click on the three-point menu -> Options -> Settings -> Deactivate Account.
If you deactivate your account, click on the icon of the Backup and Sync menu again and log in to your Google Account. The synchronization process may take some time, but your start-up problems need to be resolved.
Reboot/Restart backup and synchronization
Another solution for backup and synchronization is to reboot or even reinstall the application. In the notification area, click on the Backup and Synchronization Cloud icon, click on the menu icon when it opens, and then select Stop Backup and Synchronization.
To open it again, type Backup and Sync into the Windows search field of the Start menu and open the desktop application from there.
You can also reinstall Backup and Sync. Remove it by right-clicking on the Start menu, clicking on Applications and Features, removing it from the list and then reinstalling it by downloading it here.
Disable blocking of ads for Google Drive
Ad blockers such as AdGuard and uBlock Origin should theoretically work perfectly with Google Drive. They generally rely on blacklists, which should block known advertising sources and allow downloads on Google Drive.
Over the years, however, there have been reports of various problems with browser extensions, such as AdGuard, which can sometimes block downloads or even Internet access for all your Google applications.
If you have problems downloading files and blocking ads, try turning them off when you are on Google Drive. Don’t forget to intentionally disable the ad blocking – only for Google Drive (and other Google sites if you have problems).
Split your download into different parts
Google is designed to process individual files up to 5 TB (unless it concerns Google file formats such as documents or sheets, in which case it is 50 MB). In general, Google handles large files and folders perfectly, although your Internet may not like it when you try to download a huge folder with hundreds of gigabytes of data at a time. As you probably know, starting up puts a lot more pressure on the network than starting up.
If you notice that downloading large folders causes Google Drive to be lost or blocked, try going to a folder, select everything it contains and download it as separate files. Google Drive will automatically queue them and will be able to process the files better.
A good idea is to create a folder where you want to put your files before uploading them to Google Drive, and then put them there so you don’t have to organize them later.
Use of the personal window/ Incognito
This is usually my first solution to many web problems, including a download problem. Your personal window is isolated and does not use stored cookies that may affect your normal browsing habits. Just open a personal window in your browser and log in to Google Drive. Then download the file again and see if it works.
To open a private window, most browsers use the key combination Ctrl + Shift + N or Ctrl + Shift + P, although you can also manually open a private window from your browser’s main menu.
Deleting browser data
Your browser stores cookies, caches and other data to make surfing the web easier and faster. However, this data can sometimes cause playback problems, such as the inability to download files. You must perform this step even if using a personal window has solved your problem.

Click History on Chrome’s main menu or press Ctrl + H. Click Clear Data and the options open. You can also insert chrome://settings/clearBrowserData into the address bar and press the Enter key to go directly to this window.
Select All the time next to Time range and make sure all three options are checked. You can also disable the Browsing History option if you want to save your browsing history. Now click on Clear Data to delete the data from your browser and try to upload files to Google Drive.
Using another browser
If the above solutions have not helped you, try a different browser. As far as I’m concerned, Opera and Chrome work fine, so you can try using one of these browsers and see if that solves the problem. In addition, the error may be due to a temporary problem with browser support or the browser simply does not support Google Drive. However, this does not apply to common browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge.
If you are using one of the above browsers and your browser change has solved the download problem, try upgrading to the latest version. If this doesn’t help, wait for the next version update, because that might solve the problem.
Turn pictures on
For some reason, Google Drive will no longer work properly if the images in your browser are disabled. You can use it to edit and view data, but downloading and uploading will not work. You may have a problem with your network instead. This is especially true if the file is loaded but interrupted in the middle by a network error. A reboot of the router usually solves this problem. If this fails, try changing the IP address and disabling the firewall. The use of a VPN can also affect the download process. So make sure your VPN is disabled.
If you are sure it is a network error, a reset of your router can correct it. Your router must have a reset button (usually in a hole) that you can press and hold for five to ten seconds to reset the router.
The file may have a problem.
To confirm this, try downloading three file types separately and see if they have been downloaded. When files are downloaded, there is definitely a problem with the file you want to download. In this case, try to change the name and format of the file if possible. Also make sure that the file name does not contain any characters (e.g. ? < > / ).
If the file is very large (more than 2 GB), try to split it and then download it. A tool like 7-zip can help you with this task.
The above solutions should be sufficient to solve most problems when uploading to Google Drive. You can also try to log out of your Google Account and log back in again. It helped me once for a strange reason, although there is a rare chance that an authentication problem could interrupt the download process.
