Huawei P40 Pro Plus – Design Review

Huawei P-series phones are still at the top of the rankings. They offered amazing performance and range, and most had the most inventive camera system on the market. The Huawei P40 Pro Plus is the same.

The P-Series essentially consists of two models: Standard and Plus. While the standard model brings new touches, like a different Kirin SoC or a new design, it’s the expert models that bring the wow factor. For example, a year ago, the Huawei P30 Pro introduced the 5x optical main camera with a creative crystal prism. Combined with incredible performance, great battery life and superior low-light image quality, the P30 Pro has made a huge impression.

This year, however, Huawei has taken a cue from Samsung, opting for true standard, premium and ultra-premium models. The Huawei P40 Pro Plus has a design and list of features almost identical to those of the P40 Pro, but it brings something we’ve never seen in a phone before: a 10x optical zoom.

In terms of design, the Huawei P40 Pro Plus is almost identical to the Huawei P40 Pro, which is to say it’s eye-catching. The presentation curves on the left, right and bottom of the gadget, but the aluminum frame runs along the edges of the phone to protect it from falling out. According to Dr. Huawei, the presentation is designed to simulate water at the limit of surface pressure, and I love it.

Moving the presentation to the bottom of the phone was an intriguing decision, but one that makes perfect sense for today’s phones. As gesture navigation has become the default routing strategy in Android 10, the curved screen makes it easier to drag from the base up to go home and open the application changer. I think it’s an unusual design.

Modern design

The device is definitely a bit thicker than some other devices like the OnePlus 8 Pro, but it’s deeper and superior than uncomfortable. The back of the sound is also flexible, so despite a good grip on the flat, thicker rails, the phone seems pretty fragile overall.

The power button and volume control are mounted on aluminum rails, just like a phone. They reach further than most cell phone traps, but I really liked the tilt of the equipment. They’re ticklish. At the bottom you’ll find a USB-C port, SIM card slot and speakers, and at the top you’ll find an IR blaster – something Huawei is happy to have retained – but without a headphone jack.

The P40 Pro Plus features a 90 Hz OLED with an FHD+ resolution of 2640 x 1200, and it looks really cool. While it doesn’t quite meet the new 2020 standard of 120 Hz, I wouldn’t worry about a 90 Hz refresh rate. The phone comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB of internal storage. In the upper left corner of the presentation is a stand-alone camera. In the background you will find, 50MP (wide angle) omnidirectional + Periscope 8MP (fax) 10x optical zoom + 8MP (telephoto) 3x optical zoom + 40MP (ultra wide angle) + TOF 3D (depth).

The unique fingerprint of the optical display is hidden under the screen. It was fast and accurate. However, since the phone has a face hole with an IR camera, the fingerprint sensor should not be used.

The Huawei P40 pro plus is without a doubt the best exposed and best designed model at the moment. If you want to buy a Huawei phone, you should choose the P series because thanks to its design and other attractive features, this phone will definitely provide you with a good user experience.
