There are many features of this app, but here we will look at some of the basic, important and popular features that Telegram is known for.
Channels (known and important function)
This kind of vital function will only be seen on this or some other rare platform. Like all other instant messaging software, it does not offer these features. Channels are a form of one-way messaging where administrators can post but other users cannot. Each user can create and subscribe to channels. Channels can be created to send messages to an unlimited number of subscribers. Channels can be publicly accessible with an alias and a permanent URL, so anyone can join. Users entering the channel can see the full message history. Users can enter and exit channels at any time. Depending on the channel settings, messages may be signed with the channel name or the name of the administrator who posted them. Users who are not an administrator cannot see other users who have subscribed to the channel. Users can also mute the channel, which means the user still receives messages but is not notified. This type of channel offers its subscribers a wide range of content, including popular movies, web programs, and much more educational content.
Administrators and users (but not in user channels, which can only send in person) can send text and voice messages, add animated stickers, and share unlimited images and documents up to 2GB or more PER FILE! In December 2019, Bloomberg switched its Messenger-based messaging service from WhatsApp to Telegram after previously banning mass and automated messaging. The news service is trying to expand its audience outside the United States.
Telegrams are secured with client-client encryption, also known as Secret Chats.
What are secret cats? Messages sent as part of secret calls are accessible only on the device that initiated the secret call and on the device that received it; they are not accessible on other devices. Because private chats are only stored on participants’ devices, you can’t access them from another device, and they disappear when you log out of Telegram or delete the app.
Secret chats are available in the Telegram apps for iOS, Android and macOS. Secret conversations allow you to set time limits for messages, photos, videos and files that self-destruct after a certain amount of time.
According to Telegram Inc, the secret chats have been kept immediately and perfectly secret since December 2014. Encryption keys are replaced regularly after the key has been used more than 100 times or has been in use for more than a week. The old encryption keys have been destroyed.
Remark: Secret chats are not available for groups or channels, but only for P2P, i.e. person to person.
Telegram messages are cloud-based by default and available on all connected user devices. Users can share photos, videos, audio messages and other files (up to 2 gigabytes per file). Users can send messages to other users, individually or in groups of up to 200,000 members. Sent messages can be changed up to 48 hours after they have been sent and deleted at any time on either side. Messages from all chats, including groups and chat rooms, can be set to automatically delete after 24 hours or 7 days, although this only applies to messages sent after the auto-delete timer has been activated. For example, Telegram offers drafts that are synced between the user’s devices. B. when a user starts typing a message on one device and then continues on another device. Users can schedule private chat messages to be sent when the other party is online. Thanks to data portability, users can also import chat histories, including messages and media, from WhatsApp, Line and Kakaotalk by creating a new chat to save the messages or adding them to an existing chat.
Some other advantages
Bank accounts are linked to telephone numbers and are verified by SMS. Users can add multiple devices to their account and receive messages on all of them. Connected devices can be removed individually or all at once. In addition, users can set their username as an alias so they can send and receive messages without revealing their phone number. Telegrams can be deleted at any time and by default are automatically deleted after six months of inactivity, which can be changed at short notice from 1 month to a maximum of 12 months.
Video and voice calls
Telegram introduced its own voice calls in late March 2017. The calls are based on end-to-end encryption. Telegram has added video calling with end-to-end encryption like Signal and WhatsApp, which is not yet available in Zoom! Picture-in-picture mode is also available, allowing users to simultaneously use other features of the app while remaining in a conversation, and even turn off video. Do I have to pay for voice telegram calls? The answer is no! Telegram does not charge for its services, including voice calls.
In December 2020, Telegram added group voice chats. Any group administrator can start a chat session that is open to all group members and continues even if no one is using it at the time.
Telegram is also praised for giving each user 2GB of message storage. It is huge compared to other competitors in the market. Other services are not available.
